Adult education in Canada

Adult learners often need prerequisite upgrading before entering a college or apprenticeship program. Upgrading is widely available and sometimes free or low cost.

Academic upgrading

Provincial adult learning centres and colleges offer high school equivalency and prerequisite courses required for admission.

Flexible study

Part-time, evening and online options allow study while working. Part-time students may still be assessed for some student aid.

Recognition of prior learning

Some institutions grant credit for documented work experience, shortening a program.
